January President’s Letter
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had relaxing, peaceful holidays and finished all the creations you wanted for your family and friends. Are you planning 2026 yet? I was surprised how thrilled my grandchildren were to receive the gifts that I made for them. Numerous Cuddle scarves, three Sallie Tomato purses with 4 zippers each, a trapper keeper, and embroidered gifts cost me a trip to the sewing machine spa before Christmas. They were not busy since everyone was sewing so I got my machine back quickly!
Thank you to Brandy Banks, Allyn Baker, and the hospitality committee members for the lovely holiday party. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to socialize, admire the quilts and be together. It was a warm and cozy morning.
Please take a moment to check out the volunteer needs for our committees in this newsletter. Volunteering is a wonderful way to find your place in the Guild, meet others, and make new quilting friends. Opportunities are available for a wide range of time commitments and physical abilities. If you don’t see a role that suits you, review the committee list and reach out to the chairperson – there’s a place for everyone!
Why not make it a goal to attend a sewing bee this year? Currently, we sponsor one bee focused on charity sewing and another for working on projects of your choice. As space allows, we hope to add additional bees throughout the year. You can also host a few members in your home for an informal sewing day and enjoy each other’s company.
We are kicking off new charity quilting this year, looking forward to hearing about the work of the different charities as we go through the year.

December President’s Letter
I’m happy to see November winds blow the month away. It has been a trying month for me. Holidays
with lifting and diet restrictions are interesting.
Reflecting to 2025 – we’ve had a fabulous year! We started the year with high attendance and have
continued to grow throughout the year. We updated our bylaws and our insurance policies to account
for the growth. We had fabulous programs and workshops, and found a venue quickly when Delaware
The township experienced a fire, and we replaced a speaker with our own when there was a cancellation. We
switched our bus trip to a car trip and had quilts displayed in quilt shows by our members. We hosted
our charity quilt show, donated generously to Community Hospitals North, DaySpring, Fishers, and
other charities. We met our goals for Community Christmas Day donations and heart pillow donations
for breast cancer.
We pivoted quickly with the closing of our storeroom due to Community leasing the space, and assisted
other charities with fabric donations. We continue to donate generously to Cornerstone Lutheran and
Delaware Township. We enjoyed good times together at sewing bees and cultivating new friendships.
We have much to be thankful for and to celebrate!
I hope to see each of you at the Warm and Cozy gathering on December 8th. Look for the info in the
newsletter (below) and on our website.
Just a reminder, since it is the gift card season … do not purchase gift cards if you receive “a request,
email, text supposedly from Mudsock, a Mudsock member or on behalf of the guild.” These are scams
that we have had in the past. We will never request gift card purchases. If you receive one of these
emails, please forward it to our email so we can inform everyone. Thanks!

A Warm and Quilty Christmas Party
This Members-only event is going to be a fun way to celebrate a “Quilty Christmas.” Water and hot chocolate will be provided, but if you’d like, you may bring your own beverage.
Please bring a gift for an exchange. There is no price recommended, but bring something you would like to receive. It can be purchased or handmade.
We will have show-and-tell, so bring your eye candy along.

Weather…
Bad Weather Policy: If Hamilton Southeastern Schools are on E-learning due to weather, then there will be NO MQG Meeting. If Hamilton Southeastern Schools are on a 2 Hour Delay, then we will hold our meeting as scheduled.
Please watch the morning news for updates on the schools. IF the meeting is cancelled, we will make every effort to announce the news as early as possible via email, Facebook, and the website.
November President’s Letter
Do you keep your pumpkins and fall décor up for Thanksgiving, or are you an early Christmas
decorator? We’ve always been early. Our tradition has been to put up the tree and lights for my
daughter’s mid-November birthday because she loves them so much. We’ve continued that tradition
as empty nesters. My quilting tends to slow down this time of year with all the holiday activities.
We’ve been enjoying the beauty of fall and have seen some gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. I’ve
been mindful of one of our previous speakers who encouraged us to look to nature for color
inspiration—some great ideas for future quilts! And yes, my husband even went inside a fabric store
with me!
The next few weeks will be busy ones for the Guild as we wind down the year.
Friday, November 7th: Board Meeting – all members are welcome to attend.
Saturday, November 8th: Annual Quilt Show – come see the beautiful charity quilts for Community.
Monday, November 10th: Guild Meeting – we’ll introduce some exciting new activities planned for
2026.
Tuesday, November 11th (Veterans Day): Quilts of Valor presentation – a meaningful way to wrap
up a wonderful week. See QOV article.

Connie Moser
Connie Moser passed away on October 19th. She was an active member of the Mudsock Quilt guild, always bringing fun and laughter to the Delaware Sewing Bee. She loved her quilting friends and contributed to many of the guild’s charity projects.
Her funeral will be at Cornerstone Bible Church in Westfield next Friday, October 31, at 11 AM. Visitation is from 9-11 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, her husband Ron has asked that donations be made to Mudsock Quilters Guild with money directed to the Pillows for Breast Cancer patients. You can make a donation by check mailed to Susan Juffer 8151 Hunters Place, Indianapolis, IN 46236, or electronically at PayPal via Chris Behme @chrisknitssews, my profile photo is me standing next to my Challenge Quilt.
The donation money will be used for supplies needed to make the pillows we donate to the area Breast Cancer Treatment centers.
Her obituary has not been posted yet for further information.
Please continue to pray for her husband Ron, their two sons Drew and Travis, and their seven grandchildren.

October President’s Letter
September was a blur. Little did we know at our last guild meeting what was about to unfold. That
afternoon and the following morning, texts, emails, and phone calls began regarding the need to vacate
the Community storeroom. I am so grateful for the quick action of the executive board – difficult
decisions were made unanimously, and a clear action plan was set. On September 29th, we emptied
the last bin of fabric and officially closed the storeroom doors.
We are grateful for the vision and years of service from Diane Dimpfl, Laurie Farthing, Linda Garzynski
and Sally Sandilands for running the storeroom for us. Thank you. Quilts will be distributed at
Community on Christmas Day.
Thank you to Chris Behme, Laurie Farthing, and Martha Ross for organizing the donations and fabric
sale to clear out and close the storeroom. And thank you to the many other members who helped with
the process. We apologize if you were accidentally missed in the emails. If you missed the sale, there
will be several tables of fabric at the upcoming quilt show in November.
Unsold fabric was donated to charities with whom we’ve supported or have connections through our
guild members, including the Women’s Prison, Threads of Love Ministry (associated with Our Lady of
Mount Carmel), and Project Linus of Hamilton County/Comfort and Joy quilts. Each charity was grateful
for the donations, noting that they either lacked fabric or were running low on supplies. See the article
below to learn more about their work.
What’s next?
A charity committee is being formed. Stay tuned for more information. Keep making quilts – we
will continue distributing them to charities.
Quilt Show – Our charity quilts will be displayed as planned on November 8th. We will evaluate
the future of the show after the start of the new year.

the previous emails for the link as we are not allowed to publish it on our website. We will continue to
watch for guild opportunities. I would like to hear your feedback!

Secret Santa Sister
It’s that time of year! Be a Secret Santa Sister and join in the fun of giving and receiving! If you weren’t at the July meeting or just forgot to grab a copy, print this off and bring it to the August meeting.

September 8th, we will have Maureen Weflen joining us for a sampling of her rather large antique quilt collection. She is a world traveler and has some great stories about where some of these quilts have come from.

I love these cooler temperatures! Fall is my favorite season. I had my 1st pumpkin drink this morning so it’s official! I am currently working on a quilt with the Northcott Fall Splendor fabric collection, maybe I’ll finish it in time to use this year?
I am excited to attend the Great Wisconsin Quilt show with some of you. It will be fun to see so many quilts from our guild there. Quilt shows are a great way to get new ideas and inspiration. The Quilters Guild of Indianapolis Quilt Show is coming up, September 19-20 at the state fairgrounds. Take a friend and enjoy a day of quilts locally. We registered the guild for the Global Quilt Collection Sampler Platter on September 27-28. Watch your email closer to the event for all the details. We are NOT allowed to publish in newsletters, websites, social media or to share with non-members. See more information in the newsletter.
We are still looking at alternate sites for our website. We will be unable to move all our current information to the new website and will be downsizing our storage. If there are favorite block of month, newsletters that you want, please download and save the information. We will keep you updated on what and when as the transition occurs.

It’s a SCAM!
The scammers are at it again. Amy received an email that appears to be from Mary Boyden (but from a different email address) requesting that she purchase gift cards on behalf of the guild for Veterans. No one from the guild will ever ask you to buy gift cards.
August President’s Letter
Another busy month, those grandkids keep showing up! It is too hot to swim in our neighborhood pool this week, so I will have some sewing time. I have a couple of quilts ready to quilt and bound a quilt since the heat has run me inside.
Our quilt challenge this year was the best since I have been a member. Your creations were amazing. The stories of the why, how, and behind the creations were heartwarming. The purpose of the guild includes educational opportunities and sharing. We have a new committee, education, that Debi Bucciarelli has agreed to chair. Stay tuned as we develop this committee. What do you want to learn about or share? To help you find new ideas, the guild is registering for an online class sampler in September that you can watch mini classes from home for new-to-you techniques and instructors that you might want to explore online. July President’s Letter
Where is summer rapidly going? One more month and the grandkids are back in school! Catching up on sleep after the long Pacer run, glad I was retired with all of the late games. All of you shop hoppers, how did you do? I made it to over half the stores and visited 4 regions, completed 2 of them. I found a few shops that I will return to, some really surprised me. My sister and I shopped together, drove over 1,000 miles and spent way too much money! We wandered through southern Indiana for 3 days, saw a lot of beautiful countrysides and visited some sites along the way. There is a lot to see in Indiana. If you did not shop hop and now have remorse, you can check out the One Stop Quilt Shop Hop at the Honeywell Center in Wabash, IN on July 18 & 19th. 25 stores in one place. Information is available at nancyjsfabrics.com.
This month is one of my favorite meetings, the challenge reveals. Cannot wait to see what all your creative minds have done. We will also hear about our charity work year to date. A few changes for this special meeting-
1. There will not be show and tell this month, only challenge reveals.
2. Please keep your quilt project with you; do not display it until you reveal it on stage.
3. Share a short story about what was the challenge to you in your project and what you learned.
4. Indicate if you are entering the quilt in a show.
5. You may share your quilt top (flimsy) if it is not quilted yet.

Calling all Embroiderers
Our guild supports the Cornerstone Lutheran Comfort Dog, Magdalene, by creating scarves that attach to her special collar.
Many people are willing to sew simple scarves; however, they do not have the equipment needed to embroider the front of the scarf.
Can you help?
You can either do the embroidery on a piece of 18.5″ x 12” fabric of your own selection (storeroom fabrics are OK for this) OR pick up one of the kits near the membership table at the next meeting. You don’t have to finish the kit. Just return it at the next meeting, and someone else can take it away.
The embroidery should either be her name or her name and verse:

Great Wisconsin Quilt Show Bus Trip
We are headed to Madison Wisconsin for The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show. We are leaving the morning of Sept 3rd and will return the evening of Sept 5th. Times will be confirmed closer to the date. As we travel north we will stop for a quilt shop and lunch in Illinois. Then motor on to Madison to settle in at the Wyndham Garden in Fichtburg, WI for our stay. We plan to attend the show both days, Thursday and Friday, leaving on Friday to travel back home. We might also plan a stop on the way home for more shopping! Cost for transportation will be $115.00, the tickets are $15.00 for both days, the room cost is $125.00.
We will start taking sign ups at the May meeting. You will need to pay for the transportation and ticket costs when you sign up, so $130.00 in cash or check made payable to Mudsock Quilters Guild. The checks will be held until July in case anyone finds out they are no longer able to go. But after the July meeting, cancellations will not be allowed. At that time we will give you the name, from a possible wait list, to contact to sell your spot to them.
For your room reservation, please contact Wyndham Garden at 608-274-7200. They have a block of rooms, doubles and a few singles, held for our stay. Please mention Mudsock Quilters Guild when reserving your room.
If you have any questions, contact Chris B, my info can be found on the Current Members list. As we refine our itinerary and have more information available we will send out emails to update those who have signed up to travel.
The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show
2025 Quilt Contest Entry
The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show hosts a 10-category juried and judged Quilt Contest. Quilters of all levels have the opportunity to enter a maximum of four quilts into this exciting contest. Prizes will be awarded in each category, as well as to the Best of Show and Viewers’ Choice quilts. Entries are due by June 30, 2025.

Quilt Challenge
Each year The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show hosts a themed challenge. Quilters of all levels may enter one quilt in each challenge. First place receives $300, second place receives $200 and third place receives $100. Entries are due by June 30, 2025.

We know you’re excited to reserve your spot on the bus for this year’s trip. Details are still being worked out, and you’ll be the first to know when we’re ready to start reservations.
Scarves for Magdalene
Magdalene is the Comfort Dog of the Cornerstone Lutheran Church.
We have been making scarves that attach to her collar for the six days a week she is working to comfort in our community and elsewhere.
Please pick up a kit at the monthly meeting or make one (or several) on your own. Instructions are on our website under “Patterns” and printed copies are available with the kits. Please note, the pattern was updated when Magdalene turned two years old.
You need two fat quarters, a few inches of elastic, and a couple of buttons.
They prefer that her name or name and verse be embroidered on the scarf. If you want to just embroider, let me know and I’ll finish the scarf.

PayPal Issues
We have been having issues with the PayPal link on the website. Due to these issues we will not be taken payments online through the website. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. Please pay your dues in person at the next meeting you are able to attend. Hopefully early in the new year we will have our new website up and running with no issues. Beautiful, amazing Decorations
Heart Pillows
We are restarting our collecting of Heart Pillows for cancer patients at the Schwarz Cancer Center in Carmel, IN. You can find the info on construction of these pillows at this site. Julie P is the point person for collection of the pillows at our monthly meetings. We hope that you will consider making just 1, or 2, 3…as many as you would like!
A comment was shared by a recipient of a pillow. With constant use the V seam of the pillow tends to get a lot of stress. Please consider back stitching to reinforce the seam, or use a more gentle curve at the dip of the heart.
