Another Show is in the books!

What a wonderful show it was! And what a gorgeous day we had to bring the people out. Attendance was high, to the point the main parking lot was full. What a great problem to have.

Visitors got to see over 300 quilts on display, spanning a year of work by guild members to provide these quilts of comfort to hospital patients on Christmas Day. Our visitors got to see gorgeous quilts, have a chance at wining a door prize, vote for their 3 favorite quilts, and shop read more

November Speaker and Show N Tell

November’s Speaker was Joni Wolf of the Immanuel Quilt. Joni spoke about her journey from dream to finished quilt, as God lead her to create this beautiful quilt. Each block serves to share the names of God.

We had 124 members in attendance today, with 11 guests and 8 new members. My have we grown this past year. And it’s all due to the lovely, welcoming nature of our members, and the wonderful speakers our Program Chairs bring in.

November President’s Letter

We had a lovely new member gathering in late October. It was great to have both new and “old” members meet in a more intimate setting – although maybe a little too intimate as 2 of us tested positive for Covid a few days later – and we were both fully vaccinated! The point of the gathering is to make new friends and learn more about the guild activities. Going forward in 2024 please consider going to one of the quarterly gatherings no matter how long you’ve been in the guild.

Looking forward to our amazing quilt show on the 11 th ! The publicity has been amazing and the committee has booked even more vendors than last year. We also have lots of raffle items. Bring your friends and family – and be sure to volunteer if you can. I’ll be there at 8:30 helping to put out and identify the quilts with numbers for voting. I’ve been honored to work with the Hospitality Committee on the Holiday Party which will be lots of fun and no extra cost this year – not a lunch but plenty of continental breakfast items. Games! Music! Prizes! Show and Tell! Due to space limitations we will not be able to accommodate guests at this event. Look for the invitation in your email and please let us know if you are able to attend. Reminders: Please come a few minutes early so you can be in your seat at 9:30 when the fun begins. Wear your name tag and bring a $1 donation and/or donation item for Cornerstone Lutheran Cheer for quilters: Who are we? Quilters! What do we want? More Fabric! What are we going to do with it? We Don’t Know! Mary

Call To Action

Hi, I’m Shelia C, a guild member, and I’ve had a call on my heart to do something special for my sister-in-law who lives in New Orleans and has been battling metastatic breast cancer the past 4 years. It’s active again and she undergoing treatment.I’m asking for donations of pink fabric scraps so I can begin this calling and use all the remaining fabrics I receive for other quilts for breast cancer.I will be at this next month and would love to take home a bundle of scraps to begin creating for those loved ones walking the path with breast cancer. I will have a basket at the meeting for the donations and I thank everyone who participates in “My walk with Mary”, my name for this calling. If each contribute a little we can do lots! Little bits of fabric will make a lot of love and surround her at this difficult time in her car journey between her home town in New Orleans to Houston for her treatments at MD Anderson Houston, TX.Thank you in advance…I appreciate your time.

Brown Bag Mystery Parade

The wonderful Storeroom Strippers put together a Brown Bag Mystery QAL for Community Charity Quilts. They dug into the scraps and strips and came up with over 50 Brown Bag Mystery Quilts to be distributed amongst guild members for construction and completion. At the September meeting we had a Parade of the Brown Bags! 40 quilts were paraded across the stage and down the aisles to show the members, new and old, what the guild can do when a great group of gals puts their minds to our brawn!
