June President’s Letter
Ready for the heat? It’s been a wonderful, cool spring; however, I always look forward to the neighborhood pool. This is the 1st baseball season with my grandson that it was not sweltering and sunburns. The local strawberries are so sweet and yummy, I am making regular trips to the strawberry farm to keep a fresh supply.
How is your challenge quilt coming along? I look forward to seeing all your creations in July. I know of at least one that is completed and has been submitted to the Great

Calling all Embroiderers
Our guild supports the Cornerstone Lutheran Comfort Dog, Magdalene, by creating scarves that attach to her special collar.
Many people are willing to sew simple scarves; however, they do not have the equipment needed to embroider the front of the scarf.
Can you help?
You can either do the embroidery on a piece of 18.5″ x 12” fabric of your own selection (storeroom fabrics are OK for this) OR pick up one of the kits near the membership table at the next meeting. You don’t have to finish
May Program
In May we will welcome Lisa Dodson, from Martinsville. The presentation topic is Fiber Art Creativity. Lisa is a talented artist who utilizes various materials and methods, such as pigments, dyes, paints and papers in her art quilts. Lisa will be providing a trunk show of her art quilts. Might be a great way to get some ideas for ‘Being your own designer!’ (our guild’s challenge quilt theme).

May President’s Letter
The weather is turning summery, and it appears that May will be a promising month. May goes SOOO fast: the Indy 500, graduations, Mother’s Day, school’s out, end-of-year performances, recitals, the list goes on. I have not spent much time at my machine lately. I have been altering and embellishing costumes throughout April for an upcoming ballet performance of Beauty and the Beast for my granddaughter’s dance company. My hands are feeling it!
April was National Volunteer Month. I continue

2025 Quilt Challenge
Theme for the Challenge Quilt 2025 is ‘Be your Own Designer’ – following the Facebook ‘get to know you question’ in January – Who is your favorite Designer?
Rules: There are really very few RULES. The idea is to motivate each member to get creative and be their own designer, try something new
Maybe this means to create an art quilt of your own design…
Maybe it means to create your own fabric to be used in a pattern, by painting or dying…
Maybe it’s taking a pattern you have but adding blocks to make a quilt or enlarging a block to make a single block quilt.
