April President’s Letter

March definitely blew in and blew out and April is certainly coming in with the showers and storms. I’m always hesitant to sew during storms, do you worry about power surges and your machines? We had difficulties in a prior house, funny though the only thing I’m concerned about is my sewing machines. Have my priorities!

Mudsock kept me busy in March. I was pleasantly surprised by all the shoppers and workers at the Charity Shopping Days. It is the place for fabric for your charity projects. A charity project is a great way to try a new technique, attempt free motion quilting on a domestic, play with color… It might even be your quilt challenge project!

We had fun cutting fabric for 2 upcoming charity events, the Succulent Garden and Jelly Roll Race. We did not make a dent in the fabric in the storeroom. After that I traveled to the Mudsock Quilts of Valor presentation. What a lovely event. Thank you, ladies, for organizing. It was very meaningful to each of the vets. Remember to nominate your family and friends that have served for a quilt.

Have you started your challenge yet? I am challenged settling in to get started, I do have a few ideas. Your challenge can be an entry for the Wisconsin Quilt show too, the guild is reimbursing for one entry/ quilter since we are traveling there this fall. https://quiltshow.com/quilt-contest/

The 1st All Indiana Shop Hop is coming up May1- June 30. Visit their website, https://allindianashophop.com/ or your local quilt shop for all the details. They have a whole line of fabric portraying our state too. Grab a friend or two and plan some day trips throughout Indiana. I’ll be looking for some friends to travel around the state to see shops new to me.

April has a host of events to offer! Check the calendar on the website for all the details and fun. The best way to get to know someone is to attend any of the monthly events. Looking forward to the April meeting to learn about panels, see you there in your seat at 9:30.
