August Program-2022 Challenge

The August meeting reveled the 2022 Challenge quilts the members were working on. The Challenge was to bring our First quilt we ever made and then show our interpretation of it in 2022. It didn’t have to be the same pattern, it could be anything that the maker wanted it to be. Some brought their First quilts to share, others didn’t have them to bring, and the rest brought both.

August General Meeting

Vicki Smith's "First Time"
Vicki Smith’s “First Time”

In August, our entire meeting will be dedicated to the reveal of member’s  challenge quilts.  The theme is – ‘My First Quilt’.  And as a reminder, members are encouraged to make a quilt that somehow relates to their first quilt (technique, design, color, use, etc – no real boundaries), and then bring BOTH your first quilt (if you have it), and your newly crafted challenge quilt for a fun show and tell.  Even if you aren’t able to make a challenge quilt, we will ask that members read more

July Meeting Highlights and Show and Tell

Unfortunately our July Speaker had to cancel due to illness, but our Program Chairs rose to the Challenge and we had a fun skit and a Bingo card to fill out to learn more about our members.

Vickie S and Jayne G’s skit was adorable and Quilting Quandary had a few questions about all things quilting. The Bingo card included items such as: wearing mismatched socks, can do a cartwheel, went camping last summer, and other fun descriptors.

June General Meeting Fun

Another wonderful meeting with lots of great members in attendance. We had 6 visitors and 1 new member. We are growing each month.

As usual, we dispensed with the business portion first and got to hear from all the committees. We have such wonderful chairs who keep these committees going. Thank you to all those who donate time and effort to help the guild run smoothly.

We had a wonderful selection of quilts on display during Show and Tell, starting with the Jelly read more

May General Meeting Fun

What a wonderful show of generosity shared at today’s meeting. From donated baby items, to hearts for cancer patients, and items for Steals and Deals, our quilters are a giving bunch!

On display was the Heart top that some members have been working on for Ukraine relief. The inner portion is done and just waiting for the border. This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern.

The BOM Committee hit another one out of the park this month! The Chandelier read more

April’s General Meeting

The general meeting for April brought April Showers, but that’s OK, we were dry inside. April also brought us the delightful Catherine Redford who shared her journey to becoming a noted quilt maker.

Catherine shared her first experience with quilting when her daughter was earning her Girl Scout badge. She brought home pieces of fabric to sew together for a quilt block and they proceeded to seam it together with 5/8″ seam allowances. She said they never read more
