The racers of Mudsock Quilters Guild were at it again. This time they gather in July to run the Brickyard 400 at the new Indianapolis speedway at Community North Health Pavilion. They were in their seats and ready to start racing at 9:00 am. This year we used the Bricks Pattern for our quilt tops. This versatile pattern can create many different looks by the placement of your fabrics.
From left: Former racer “Mark Martin”, aka Chris B was the announcer for this year’s race, former driver Dale Jarrett, aka Sally S, was one of the key forces for running this race, former Pit Crew Chief “Larry McReynolds”, aka Sandy M, cautioned the drivers on the rules of the race, former driver Jeff Gordon, aka Laurie F made sure each Cup driver had what they needed to keep them going with fuel stops, and Tony Stewart, aka Linda G, was instrumental in having the race track ready to host the event. A big thank you to those 4 ladies on the right for pulling off such a great event.
With the drop of the green flag the field was off and racing.
Each driver was given a packet containing all the strips they needed for the body of the quilt top, plus strips for borders and binding. They were also able to pick up a backing and batting to complete the top for the Community Charity endeavor.
