November General Meeting Highlights

November BOM “Anything Goes” This month’s winners were Pat Jones and Ellen Hanson

What a beautiful day for a guild meeting. And what a wonderful program it was. Our wonderful longarmers held a panel discussion about “What your longarmers wish you knew”. They gave us all the details about what they need from us to ensure we get back a wonderful quilt.

The panel consisted of Elizabeth Sampson, Sandy Metzger, Kathy Staples, Allyn Baker, Diane Dimpfl, and Vickie Smith, led by Carlene Clark.

Some of the issues they covered were:

  • How much excess fabric to provide on the backing
  • How to square up the quilt
  • How to choose the proper batting
  • How to de-thread your top before quilting
  • Make sure your top/back is ironed and on a hanger with minimal folding
  • To piece or not to piece you back, that is the question. Whether tis nobler…..wait
  • Proper piecing is the key to a top that lays flat

All the tips were essential for them to provide us with a great finish to our quilts! If you were unable to be there, or missed the Live stream, follow this link to see what the panel discussed.
