I JUST GOT SCAMMED $700 BY SOMEONE STATING THEY WERE ANNE HART, you may be contacted by someone saying they are another Mudsock member, AND SHE NEEDED GIFT CARDS AND WAS UNABLE TO GET THEM. SOMEONE HAS GOTTEN OUR LIST OF PEOPLE AND PHONE NUMBERS AND WHAT POSITIONS WE HOLD. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE AWARE OF WHO IS ASKING AND CONFIRM WITH THAT INDIVIDUAL BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.
In order to not have this happen again we ask that you update your password with our website. If you are not sure how to do this contact the website committee and we will send you a reset password link. These things happen because a password used by a member was used on another website and that website was hacked. So they gain access to our website by using the password they gained access to from a data breach somewhere else. When you reset your password, do not use one you have as a password on another website. Please create a unique password for our website and SAVE it somewhere it cannot be accessed. The Website Admins will NOT know your password, so you must save it for yourself.
Since we do not store financial information of our members, you are not in danger of having your personal financial information stolen. But we are open to scammers who will use our contact information to try to scam others in the guild. The best course of action is to not respond to any unsolicited text or email from a “supposed” member of the guild. We will NEVER contact you requesting you purchase anything for the guild.
