Mudsock Quilters Guild March General Meeting

Candy Grisham from ICandy Fiberart will be our presenter in March.

Candyce GrishamI have been fascinated with fabric, sewing and quilting since the age of nine, when I took my first sewing class and won a prize for my corduroy jumper and print shirt. When I saw an ancestor’s quilt in the Smithsonian at age thirteen, I was hooked. I taught myself to quilt from a book and used cardboard templates and scissors to make my first quilt, a Log Cabin. It has been a love affair ever since.

I love using fabrics, themes and colors from nature, but also lean more and more to bright fabrics with prints. Many of my works have a “traditional with a twist” quality. I rely on inspirations from generations gone by and put a contemporary feel to my designs.

I dabble in fiber art, challenges, machine quilting and modern quilting. I love it all.

I have taught quilting for more than twenty years and love and teaching and exploring with students as much as the creating. I have been lucky to have quilts and fiber art pieces juried into shows with Missouri Fiber Artists, the American Quilter’s Society in Kentucky and the International Quilt Association in Houston as well as many local and regional shows and displays.

I published my first pattern on the Dresden quilt (of course) in 2015 and look forward to more pattern. My book, Reimagined Dresdens, is available now where you purchase your books or from me at my Etsy site.

I am a Missouri native and live in a semi-rural setting and urban downtown St Louis. I love to travel and geocache too. I am married to a wonderful man who has always supported my art and we have raised two wonderful young men.
