What a wonderful day of sewing we had at Community Charity Bee today. This wonderful monthly event is held at the Community Health North Pavilion on 146th and Cumberland, usually the 3rd Monday of the month, but March and April it is being held on the 4th Monday.
The store room was hopping with quilts being turned in and fabrics being matched for projects. Sally Sandilands and Joan Hiner were ready to aid the quilters who needed batting, backing or fabric.
The storeroom was also full of the Quilt Show Committee meeting to discuss the needs and plans for the annual quilt show, planned for November 11th, 2023 at Cornerstone Lutheran on 116th and Olio. If you want to help any of these committees please reach out to Diane D and she can direct you. We need people for advertising, vendors, checking in visitors, quilt monitors, and set up/take down.
A few quilts were on display in the storeroom and the sewing room, each one brilliant in its own way.
Lore W’s String HSTs quilt is so striking.
Diane D’s Charm Pack quilt is bold and bright.
Susan J got her Christmas themed Stack and Whack done during our sewing time.
In the sewing room there was lots of machines humming and chit chat going on. Each quilter working on a charity quilt to donate to our annual Christmas Day quilt delivery to Community North Hospital. It’s such a fun way to use our skills to help others while we gather and enjoy the company of like minded ladies. Quite a few new members came out to sew and share.
New member Marth R brought in her awesome 3 yard top to shop for backing and batting.
New member Cindy M helped Tameria O with piecing a back from leftover fabric to make it large enough for her top.
The rest of us just sewed and talked, sharing tips and recent retail finds.
Don’t miss out next Community Charity Bee on April 24th, 9:30 am-3:00 pm.
